Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 large navel oranges (zest and juice)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (grated)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cranberries under cool water. Zest and juice the oranges, and grate the ginger.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine cranberries, orange juice, orange zest, grated ginger, sugar, and water. Stir well.
  3. Increase the heat to high until the mixture simmers (look for soft popping sounds from the cranberries).
  4. Add the cinnamon stick, reduce heat to low, and simmer uncovered for 10-15 minutes until cranberries soften.
  5. Remove from heat, discard the cinnamon stick, and let cool slightly before transferring to a bowl. Refrigerate until serving.
